Why not whet your appetite for a holiday in Malaysia by preparing the traditional Nasi Goreng, a fragrant and tasty fried rice with this recipe from the Malaysian Tourism Board.

Nasi Goreng

Nasi Goreng
Fried Rice
(Serves 4 - 6)

Ingredients:

2 cups rice, cooked and cooled
4 shallots
25g dried anchovies, washed
2 cloves garlic
2 red chillies
2 long beans chopped
2 eggs
2 tbsp sweet soya sauce
Salt to taste
1 tbsp oil

Method:

1. Grind anchovies with shallots, garlic and chillies in a mortar and pestle.
2. Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the mixture until fragrant.
3. Add long beans and stir-fry over a medium flame till cooked.
4. Add in the rice and fry evenly.
5. Break in 2 eggs and mix well.
6. Season with sweet soya sauce and salt to taste. Enjoy!
