CURRENCY
The main currency in the Mediterranean is the Euro (€). There are seven different denominations, each having a distinctive colour and size. Denominations of notes are €5, €10, €20, €50, €100, €200 and €500. Denominations of coins are 1 cent, 2 cents, 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents, €1 and €2. Travellers cheques are widely accepted and money may also be withdrawn from local ATM machines.

In Tunisia, the currency is Tunisian Dinar (TND). Notes are in denominations of TND30, 20, 10 and 5. Coins are in denominations of TND5 and 1, and 500, 100, 50, 20, 10 and 5 millimes. Travellers cheques may be cashed in banks and the usual authorised establishments; the most convenient currencies are Euros or US Dollars. MasterCard and Visa are accepted in amajor resorts and towns and money may also be withdrawn from local ATM machines.
ELECTRICITY
The voltage in the Mediterranean is 220 volts, 50 cycles so a 2 pin adapter is required, with the exception of Cyprus, which is the same as the UK.

There are currently no specifc vaccinations required for travel to the Mediterranean, however, please check with your doctor when making travel arrangements as this may change.

CLIMATE
In summer (May-October), the Mediterranean climate is warm to hot. It is normal for many areas to go 4-6 months without rain. Winters are relatively mild. The warmest of the countires in the Meditrerranean during winter are Tunisia, Cyprus and The Algarve.
