ENTRY REGULATIONS
All visitors to Hong Kong must hold a valid passport which are valid for at least one month after the period of their extended stay in Hong Kong. For some visitors six months is required. Visitors from most countries, including the UK, are not required to obtain visas for stays of between 7 and 180 days. Visas for mainland China can be obtained in Hong Kong. One photo is required and visas are usually processed within 3 working days depending on which type of visa is applied for.
GETTING INTO TOWN
Visitors to Hong Kong are served by one of the world's largest and most modern airports - Chep Lap Kok. The airport is located on Lantau Island and is linked to Kowloon and Hong Kong Island (Central District) by a high speed Airport Express rail link. The one-way fare is approximately HK$100 per person to Hong Kong Island and HK$90 per person to Kowloon. Services leave every 15 minutes directly from the airport terminal with a journey time of between 20 and 25 minutes depending on the final destination. A free Airport Express shuttle service is available for Airport Express users, transporting passengers from Kowloon and Central Terminals to their hotel. The Airport Express links Kowloon and Central with the extensive MTR underground rail network.
There are more than 30 franchised bus routes to and from the airport including 10 Airbus services that have fewer stops than conventional buses. Airbus fares range between HK$14 and HK$45 per person.
Taxis are readily available at the airport from the staging area. A typical journey from the airport to Central costs around HK$330 and to Kowloon around HK$270.
