Hotel Description
Located in the pyramids area of Cairo. The rooms are bungalow style, located throughout the grounds, most of which have been recently renovated. A good-size heated pool welcomes swimmers all year round. The hotel offers 240 standard rooms.
In our opinion: a great value for money base from which to explore Cairo.
Please note: The hotel will be building an extension on neighbouring land. The new extension will offer 148 rooms overlooking the pyramids, green landscape areas with lavish gardens, a new swimming pool, restaurants and bars.
The construction and building work will start as of 1 June 2010 and is expected to last for approximately 18 months. Work will take place on a daily basis between the hours of 0800 and 2000 and heavy machinery is currently in use. The work will be separated from the hotel by a fence of a minimum of two and a half metres. With the exception of the tennis courts which will be out of use, all other facilities remain unaffected. Please be assured that you will be allocated away from the building work (Update 24 June 2010).

Hotel Description
The Maritim Jolie Ville Luxor Island Resort is only 5 minutes away from downtown Luxor and is served by a free shuttle bus to the Winter Palace. The hotel is set amongst beautiful palm trees in a lush plantation on Crocodile Island on the river Nile. Maritim Jolie Ville offers extensive recreation and sports facilities including an 18 hole golf course only 25 minutes away. The comfortable 21 bungalows, housing 314 standard rooms, 14 deluxe rooms and 4 suites are scattered over an area of 24 acres. The resort is ideal for families or couples who are looking for an informal hotel, offering relaxation in a beautiful setting overlooking the Nile.
Our opinion: this resort style hotel is ideal for families and those wanting a variety of activities. The resort offers comfortable accommodation, an adults only swimming pool with Nile views and an infinity style pool with sunken children's play area. It is also offers the most spacious grounds in Luxor.
Please note: The infinity pool will be closed for annual maintenance 6-13 October 2010. During this time the relaxing pool will be available. In addition, the relaxing pool will be closed for annual maintenance 20-27 October 2010. During this time the infinity pool will be available (update 29 June 2010).
The initial renovation phase comprising 80 of the existing rooms is 70% complete. The work has included refurbishing of all bathrooms, which are nowl tiled and have a window to the bungalow court yard. 30% are equipped with bath/shower and 70% with walk-in shower. The bedrooms have also received an update with state of the art flat screen TV, tiled floors and new ceilings, new mini
bar and safe. Mosquito traps have also been installed on the terraces and the outdoor furniture will also be replaced.
Construction of the new reception and lobby building is 95% complete. There will be a new shopping arcade and a modern, light flooded meeting room for up to 180 people, a business centre and a coffee bar serving the huge new lobby.
The work to create the all new Jolie Ville buffet restaurant to incorporate the Kings Bar, the Le Fleur Restaurant, the old lobby, the shops and the bank will start early September. The area surrounding this renovation work will be carefully shielded off, to avoid any disturbance to guests. During this period of rejuvenation buffet meals will be served in the Sobek hall. The la Fleur “a la carte” Resturant will find its substitute during dinner time around the infinity pool at the Nakheel Terrace.
A new, heavy duty 40 ton, two Way Bridge now connects Kings Island with the mainland. For the time being works are still being carried out to update the infrastructure underneath the bridge, including new sewage lines, which will connect the hotel with the public sewage station in Bayadya. The bridge is expected to re-open shortly.
Foundations and underground infrastructure of the new bungalows in the south of the island, as well as newly created spa building have been settled successfully. Initial construction of the new 2400 sqm “Horizon Pool” have been concluded and the building is taking shape.
The Zoo and its inhabitants has been successfully transferred to its new location on the east side of the Island, close to where we are planning to establish our “Egyptian Court” with a Oriental / Egyptian a la carte restaurant in an original Nubian Farm House and the rebuilt of the Fellah Tent in all new breathtaking location.
The hotel has managed to operate with minimal disturbance to guests and to date has not received any complaints regarding the work (Update 14 July 2010).
